Their wedding was anything but traditional … they chose the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square as their venue for both their ceremony and reception. Plus Marisa & Nick were all for a First Look and bridal party pics prior to the ceremony.
How they met …
Nick and Marisa were set up by mutual friends, Mike & Jade, and first met at Fat Heads, here in Pittsburgh. After the initial meeting, they did a lot of texting, but it was another month before they reconnected face to face. Marisa was in the process of moving from South Side to Shadyside and kept breaking dates. The day that she finally moved, Nick told her she was out of excuses and that they were going to dinner the next day. Marisa figured she would let Nick buy her dinner since she had yet to go grocery shopping for her new place. They went on their first date at Mad Mex in Shadyside and ended up staying there for four hours. The rest is history.
How he proposed …
Nick started asking Marisa on a Monday morning if they could go to Mad Mex that week because he really wanted a burrito. Marisa figured that he meant that weekend, and was all for it. Tuesday morning, Nick told her they were going to Mad Mex that night. Marisa wasn’t thrilled about it because it would keep her up past her 9:30 bedtime, but agreed to go. As they were driving over the Liberty Bridge, Marisa commented that it probably would have been closer to go to the Mad Mex in the South Hills, but Nick said he didn’t want to go there because it wasn’t as “authentic”.
Once they got to the restaurant, they ordered dinner as usual. Nick order a spicy wing burrito and was eating entirely too slow — if you know Nick you know food doesn’t last long… haha — Marisa had already packed up her leftovers and excused herself to use the restroom. When Marisa returned Nick started talking about how it was crazy that they went on their first date there, and that this was going to be the place where they were going to take the steps towards the rest of their lives. Nick then go down on one knee and proposed — Marisa, of course said yes!!
