Their wedding was right in the mist of one of Pittsburgh hottest months since 1995 and prior to that was in the 1900!! Amanda chose a Boho gown from Free People which fit her style perfectly and had each of her girls choose their own gown or dress; her only request was that it was in a shade of brown. They married at a beautiful ceremony with personal hand written vows followed by a fun evening at the Broughton Fire Hall which they transformed into a magical evening of fun and dancing with family and friends. Amanda’s eye for details really brought everything together. As always I love to share their story via Amanda…
How we Met:
Shane and I met over 8 years ago at a children’s play ground in South Park were a group would gather often with their cars. I was down there with mutual friends but had never met Shane before. As we were parking I noticed this boy who was driving a camero; my favorite car (behind the reason – my grandfather had bought my brother the same car just a different color and shortly after he passed away so I had an attachment to it).
I was just as bold back then as I am now… I walked right up to him and asked if that was his car, he replied, “yes” and I said, “I’m going to drive this one day” he replied sarcastically [he was kinda of a jerk when we met].. “that’s what brought in the ladies”. Shortly after we started texting and he asked me on our first date and took me out to a lovely dinner – he was such a gentleman and romantic. Ever since that we were always together and our love grew more serious.
How he Proposed:
Shane purposed on 11-11-2011. He had called off work and I could not figure out why; he wasn’t sick we had nothing planned. He spent the whole day taking me places being so sweet, we went to my favorite restaurant for an amazing dinner and then later that night he drove to the children’s playground were we had first met. I was so confused and nervous and out of no where he parks the car gets out comes over to my side opened the door got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He purposed with my grandmothers ring which he had asked my mother for months in advance and had asked my dad for his blessing, which I had no idea until after the fact. The next year we purchased our first home together and this coming January it will 9 years.
